AZAPO TO JOIN THE COALITION OF CONCERNED CITIZENS AND ORGANISATIONS IN A MARCH TO CALL FOR #ZUMAMUSTGO
Johannesburg – Tuesday 26 April 2016: The leadership of the Azanian People’s Organisation (AZAPO) will join the coalition of concerned citizens and organisations, who will march on Wednesday 27 April 2016 under the banner #ZUMAMUSTGO to call on President Jacob Zuma to do the right thing and resign from the country’s highest office.
“It is apparent to most citizens that our country is in the grip of a deep and extensive crisis. For many the crisis is a result of the response of the government, the ruling party and President Zuma to the Constitutional Court’s recent judgement.
For others, the crisis began with the removal of then Minister Nhlanhla Nene as Finance Minister.
For yet others the crisis has been coming for a while, signified by the disastrous appointments made both at ministerial level and at high public service levels over the past seven years or so.
For the Black Consciousness Movement and, AZAPO, in particular, the crisis is no longer in individual events but is now systemic and structural in nature! Not only because of the flawed Kemptonpark agreements, but also because the ruling of the highest court in the land and the protector of our democracy is treated with derision” said President of AZAPO , Professor Itumeleng Mosala
“Twenty-two years ago, on the 27 April 1994, many held to the promise of the ‘New South Africa’ , Twenty-two years later many independent studies and analyses tell us that the patterns of apartheid are merely being perpetuated. We see this in the crisis represented by the poor outcomes of our education system, the failure of our healthcare system, the high levels of unemployment and the moral and spiritual degeneration evident in the leadership of this country.
For how long will we stand by and allow this deterioration to continue?
The time has come for the citizens of this country to rise up in their numbers and say, enough and no more! The time for us as a collective to Take Back our Power is now! Let the call for #ZUMAMUSTGO be a start in ridding ourselves of corruption, malfeasance and indeed betrayal” concluded the President of AZAPO, Professor Itumeleng Mosala
