THE DEATH OF PROFESSOR ADAM SMALL A REAL LOSS IN THESE TROUBLED TIMES IN OUR COUNTRY
THE AZANIAN PEOPLE’S ORGANISATION (AZAPO) deeply mourns the death of Prof. Adam Small. He was a stalwart and founder member of the Black Consciousness Movement. His sharp intellect and deep roots in the reality of his people, the black people of South Africa, soon cut through the mountain of racial lies and deceit exposing it for what it was and continues to be, bad white racist ideology.
Together with Steve Biko, Peter Jones, Strini Moodley, Mthuli Ka Shezi, Deborah Matshoba, Nchaupe Mokoape, Mapetla Mohapi, Jerry Modisane, Terror Lekota, Onkgopotse Tiro, Stanley Ntwasa, Harry Ranwedzi Nengwekhulu, Barney Pityana, Jeff Baqwa and countless other towers of political and spiritual strength, he provided sterling leadership to black people at their darkest moment of oppression and exploitation by the whites settle-colonial minority regime.
His passing represents the passing of an era when black people could trust in being led, with integrity, knowledge, understanding, moral vision, depth and clarity on all issues and with admirable selflessness. The social, political and academic lacuna created by his death will be felt by our country and by black people in these difficult times and moments of weakness for our people and land. In spite of this, though, his contribution will abide forever.
